Intent

At Park Road Junior, Infant and Nursery School, we intent to:

  • Ensure all pupils receive a high quality mathematics education, through quality first teaching
  • Ensure all pupils develop fluency in the fundamentals of mathematics and have the ability to recall and apply knowledge efficiently
  • Encourage pupils to become inquisitive learners, who are curious, ask questions and are not afraid to take risks.
  • Develop learners who can reason mathematically, solve problems and use mathematical language appropriately

EYFS Schemes of Learning

EYFS follow the White Rose Maths schemes of learning, supplemented with additional activities to make meaningful links in children’s learning.

We follow the 5 counting Principles

  1. The one-one principle
  2. The stable-order principle
  3. The cardinal principle
  4. The abstraction principle
  5. The order-irrelevance principle

Your child has been provided with a log in to the PiXL Times Table App, please ensure they access this daily. We recommend setting up a daily routine so it becomes expected such as playing in short bursts over breakfast.
