Welcome to our Nursery!

Nursery Staff

Mrs Tuke, Mrs Khaleeq, Miss Ward & Mrs Stenton (Our fantastic cleaner)

We are really enjoying working with your children and we are very proud of our nursery.  Please find time to come and look around at the brilliant work your children are doing.

All of our Nursery staff are trained in Paediatric First Aid Level 3.

This term's topic

Our topic this half term is Transport.  We will be looking at the traffic on Park Road and Bradford Road, counting vehicles and looking at the different colour of cars.  We will be going for a bus ride to look around Dewsbury Bus Station and drawing pictures of the things we see.  We will also be going for a ride on the train through a tunnel to the railway station in Leeds and walking to look at the railway signal box.  Our role play area has changed into a garage and workshop and we will have great fun using remote control cars.

Phonics

Last half term we introduced Read Write Inc to help us learn our letter sounds.  We are really enjoying our learning and we know lots of letter sounds. This half term we are going to learn to write the letters correctly and will be bringing home some practise sheets.  Please encourage your child to complete the sheets and ask them to tech you the letter sounds.  You will be surprised at how well they know them!

Numeracy

We will be counting lots of different vehicles and learning how to write numbers correctly.  We will be asking people what colour car they have and making a graph about the ways in which we come to school.  We will also be making our own number plate and looking at the shapes of road signs.

Library

This half term we are launching our Reading Rocket.  We would like you to read with your child at least three times a week.  We will therefore change library books on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  This will give you ample time to read with your children.  When your child has read their book at least three times in one week they will be able to progress to the next level of the Reading Rocket.  When they reach the top of the rocket they will be able to come to school for one day in non-uniform.  Who will make it to the top first?

PE

We are all really enjoying our PE sessions and we are very good!  We listen carefully and follow instructions well.  We are trying very hard to take off our own shoes, socks and jumpers.

Please make sure that your child is wearing socks not tights on Tuesdays and please name all items of clothing to avoid any mix up!
