Sports Premium

During the academic year 2019/20 the Government gave every Primary School funding to develop Physical Education and competitive sport. Park Road School received £17710. In our school we used this funding to:

·         Broaden the experience of the range of sports and activities offered to all pupils

·         Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport

·         Increased participation in competitive sport

·         Raise the profile of PE and sport across the school as a tool for whole school improvement

Monies are used to bring PE and sports specialist teachers and coaches into work alongside class teachers and support staff in lessons. In this way, the children were able to gain new skills and experiences and teachers and support staff were able to gain new techniques and knowledge which aided them in teaching sport and PE.

Some of the money was used to buy coaches for after school clubs. The aim of this was to increase participation in sport and competition and broaden the children’s awareness and experience of different sports and promote a healthier lifestyle. Also we have used some of the money to purchase new resources so the children have a wide variety of equipment to enhance their learning. A small amount of the funding was used to transport children and staff to competitions and sporting events.

The long term aim is higher quality lessons and improved learning for all children. The children will make more progress through the school and therefore become more competent and confident in all aspects of Sport and the P.E. curriculum.

The document below shows exactly what we spent during 2019/20 and the impact this has had. Planning is currently in process for 2020/2021 funding.
